I have 2 children 16 & 5. Have been home educating  for about 5 years although I would actually say I have been home educating for 16 years! I am the local co ordinator for Australasia on behalf of Education Otherwise. Also on the committee of NCHENZ, a home education group in New Zealand. I emigrated here just over 2 years ago and have been helping other families (especially those who home educate) to do the same.Have really found this website helpful and recommend the books One to One and Unqualified Education. 17 Jun 2006

We live in Donegal with our 2 year old daughter and we were looking at the primary schools available... I was very surprised to find out that there are not non denominational schools about and that they wanted a baptism certificate for the registration form? We were looking for a non denominational school with no religious education... Do you know if there is such a thing in Ireland?  01 Mar 2005

I'm currently living in Southern California, but I am a native of West Cork, Irl. We are very interested in returning to live there and would like to make contact with any Irish Home schooling families. We've home schooled or really unschooled since my oldest daughter was 5 and she's now 10. It works great for our family. Hope to hear from any family in Ireland, Miriam     14 Oct 2005

I have two children who have had dramatically different educational experiences. My 19 year old daughter was outstandingly successful throughout 12 years in the school system in both the UK and Australia and is now in her second year at the University of Canberra studying Arts and Law. My 9-year old son has been self-educated since quitting school after two years in December 2002. I publish a monthly online newsletter called Parental Intelligence that regularly features articles about alternative education and what I insist on calling 'real' education. http://www.parental-intelligence.com

My son is 8 and has ADHD. He is also struggling with reading. I am looking into A Waldorf education for him as the public school is making him feel dumb and an outcast. He used to love school as a young child and is full of life and insight. Do you think this type of education would be a good match? how do Waldorf schools handle ADHD kids?   10 Apr 2005

Would love to have email contact for my children who are Indo British---a 13 year old boy Dev and 11, Tara who have been homeschooled for the last 3 years. We have a home in Norwich but have chosen to live in India for now. We spent a week in Forest row, East Sussex, after checking out Michael Hall, and completely disillusioned with the school! But on the brighter side, we met theeee most amazing homeschooling families, and hope to move base from Norwich to Forest row, so that when we do spend time in England, we do not feel like the 'odd ones' who choose to home school! Very inspired by Gareth Lewis's books and am looking for more books like his to help me on this amzing journey. Tara and Dev are busy cooking from the recipes in his book! look forward to hearing from homeschoolers so that my children and I can connect ..... I use 'The spiritual Syllabus series ' by alan whitehead from australia, and have used Live education material in the past.....   04 Oct 2005

My husband is English and I am from South America. We have one year old son and another one on the way, and are considering alternative schooling for our children, as we wish to divide our time between the two countries. I think its very important for my children to live part of the year in my home country, where they will benefit from contact with their other family and learn the language and culture. Most of the year they will spend in England, their country. As no conventional school will let us take them for a full term, I wish to agree flexi schooling with a School in my area, where they can attend school whilst in England, and be home educated when abroad. 03 Jul 2006
